Table for Two

Jesus did not come to be served

but to serve

have you made reservations

To be seated at the table for two

with Jesus

As believers we should be loving the father with no reservations. Here are a few ways we as believers can love the Lord with no reservations:

  1. Clear the table for intimacy with God:

We can become overwhelmed with the distractions of the world, but that should not be our focus. We are told in Colossians 3:2 to "Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things". also guided from the book of James 1:21 it states "therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you." For the cost of distraction pulls us away from the 3 P's: peace, purpose, and the presence of God, robbing us from the best God has for us. In order to clear the table and begin intimacy with God we must first start by repenting, renewing our mind, and focusing on the Lord.

  2. Keeping our eyes on Jesus:

In Hebrews 12:1-3 it states " Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart." Through the sacrifice Jesus gave us an invitation to be seated at the table so we may live a life that glorifies God.

  3. Through Total Devotion:

We are to obey and surrender to the Lord, loving God above everything else. We were informed by Samuel in 1 Samuel 15: 22 " has the Lord as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams. For it isn't certain parts of the word we should listen to but All the Lord has instructed us to act upon being Doers of the word and not just hearers informed by James in James 1: 22. We should give God all or nothing, clinging to the Lord and the Lord alone, for the Lord doesn't mind us being clingy and stuck on him.

Now ask yourself are you trying to love God and still hold onto the love of your distractions or are you ready to be seated at the table for two? For the Lord wants all of us or nothing.
